While looking around for images to go with my review of the latest Mummy flick, I came across a great shot of Rachel Weisz that got me thinking that she’d be a great Catwoman for the next Christopher Nolan Batman film:
Of course, countless actresses could fill out the catsuit well, and some of them could actually carry off the role (Angelina Jolie and Kate Beckinsale spring to mind). Weisz, though, has an earthy, playful carnality about her, and a sense of deep intelligence, that I think would be ideal.
Design-wise, I think a kevlar-ed up take on the Darwyn Cooke-designed costume Selina Kyle’s worn the past few years would be great:
Gotta have the goggles.
Word is that Rachel is being considered as Cat woman in the next film. Best choice for the role in my opinion.
That’s great to hear. If she winds up with the role, that would be the second casting choice I called in advance for these flicks; I started mentioning Christian Bale for Batman two years before he was cast.
I dunno….I like Weisz plenty but when I was wish-casting for an aborted go at a teaser poster I used Charlize Theron. And Eddie Izzard as the Riddler.
Izzard would be cool. Theron, though…I dunno. She doesn’t feel right to me somehow.
What’s your stance on Pfeiffer’s Catwoman?
Pfeiffer rocked it. No Julie Newmar but….
Ah, we have our point of divergence. I found Pfeiffer’s performance too stylized, almost like mime with sound. She looked great in the suit, but she wasn’t grounded, wasn’t earthy enough, to be a good catwoman in my eyes.
Plus, blonde. Catwoman’s not a blonde. Though that matters far less than what the actress brings to the role, and she just didn’t do it for me.
Nobody’s being considered for the role yet, at least that anyone not directly involved would know about.
We don’t even know if Catwoman is going to be in the next movie.
Angelina Jolie would be horrible. Sometimes it’s better not to think with your dick.
Opinions vary. Sometimes, Silas, it’s better not to be a dick.
